Join me on a little walk around the Dorman museums ceramics gallery. We will find beautiful ceramics and more by Christopher Dresser. Internationally significant collections of 19th century CERAMICS, glass, metalwork and furniture. The museum holds the largest collection of objects designed by the renowned Christopher Dresser, ‘the father of modern industrial design’. We will also see the largest collection of Linthorpe Art Pottery. A small local POTTERY, operating for only ten years at the end of the 19th century, produced highly innovative and ground breaking ceramics which remain highly collectable today. You can see how the pottery is still very significant today, so many of the designs are similar to today's ceramics. Even some pieces similar to shapes being made on the GREAT pottery THROWDOWN. I have chosen 3 pieces that I love and would like you to choose 1, 2 or 3 for me to recreate and try to get a similar finish. It won't be exactly the same as I will be HANDBUILDING my piece, but I will try my best to get the shape as near as possible.
