I first ran across the name of Blaze Foley wondering about Lucinda Williams' song Drunken Angel. At the time, I was pretty obsessed with learning Lucinda songs, so I didn't go looking for a new songwriter rabbit hole. Later, a friend suggested I give a listen to this song & maybe cover it. It kind of blew my mind. I swear when I listen to Blaze Foley sing I can feel my blood pressure drop. Magical.
