The 1920 Louth Flood Disaster A 100th Anniversary The 29th of May 2020 will mark 100 years since the Louth Flood Disaster. On that fateful day a "cloud-burst" at tea-time on a Saturday afternoon resulted in a severe flash flood which claimed the lives of 23 local people (including 6 children) making over 800 people homeless and causing widespread devastation in the town. Louth Museum, St James' Church, Louth Town Council and Spout Yard were all planning to mark this sad event in Louth's history with special exhibitions and events, but all public events have been put on-hold because of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Instead Louth Museum can offer you this video in which today's residents of Louth present first-hand accounts of the 1920 flood.
