Things are heating up, just a stone's throw from the plenary session that, this Thursday, will approve the modifications introduced to the market's regulatory ordinance… This is the most prominent and thorny local political issue of recent days: squaring the circle of the market's renovation while satisfying the vendors by modifying the ordinance without requiring relocation, guaranteeing them, of course, their right to their stalls and compensation for lost profits during the year and a half of construction. The mayor mentioned in the recent meeting with the vendors that there is a budget of 400,000 euros for these payments. If the work were to last up to 24 months, this compensation would be increased. The market's collective of vendors currently comprises 21 individuals: 19 active and 2 on medical leave. These include 5 fishmongers, 4 butchers, 4 greengrocers/fruit vendors, 2 delicatessens, 2 bakers, 1 florist, 1 barista, 1 nut stall, and 1 spice stall. The renovation and modernization project, budgeted at €4.1 million, requires this preliminary step before the bidding process for the project: the approval of the amendment to the regulatory ordinance, the legal framework that protects the rights of the twenty vendors. During the preliminary administrative phase, vendors and the Vox party submitted objections, and all indications are that Vox will do so again after the plenary session's approval. We'll see the PP's stance. What will the vendors do? Opinions are divided. In fact, we can reveal that Loli Muñoz, the former president of Ubemer, submitted her resignation today. She is no longer leading the association. The fact that they presented almost the same arguments as Vox, posed for photos with Vox at their last press conference in front of the market, and even shared a lawyer, has divided the group. The dilemma is clear: accept the City Council's compensation offer and have the works begin as soon as possible, or mount a firm opposition?
