Contrapost (from Italian contrapposto - “the opposite”), or chiasm (Greek chiasmos - “cruciform”) - the reception of the image of a human figure in art, in which the position of one part of the body is contrasted with the position of the other part. Contrapost allows you to convey the plastic movement of the figure, its tension, without disturbing the general balance of forms.
