Os Nomes Esquecidos das 16 Carmelitas de Compiégne (1794)

Sister Maria da Encarnação wrote an account with a brief biographical profile of her former companions in the Carmel of Compiégne, martyred in the Terror of the Revolution in France, in 1794. Her manuscript was fundamental for us to have the names of these Carmelites who demonstrated extraordinary Faith and Courage for the love of Jesus Christ. Led by Mother Teresa of Saint Augustine, the 16 Carmelites of Compiégne maintained a posture of serenity and determination, continuing their religious practices and supporting each other until the final moment. Each of them, from the young novice Sister Constance (Marie-Geneviève Meunier) to the oldest, Sister Charlotte of Resurrection (Anne-Marie-Madeleine Thouret), demonstrated a deep and unshakable faith. On July 17, 1794, they were taken to the guillotine in Paris. Their executions, carried out amid prayers and songs, marked a powerful example of spiritual resistance and sacrifice. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- To become a supporting member of the channel:    / @leituracomplementar
