Navier-Stokes Equations in Atmospheric Sciences
This video presents the Navier - Stokes equations that are used in atmospheric sciences and oceanography. The equations are formulated in a non-inertial frame of reference, so apparent forces (centrifugal and the Coriolis forces) are included in addition to the real forces (the pressure gradient force, gravity and viscous forces). Also, the Euler equations are discussed as the special case of the Navier - Stokes equations. The video also presents a collage of phenomena that are described by the Navier - Stokes equations.
