Having already put together an IDEAL Sibelius cycle, here is a survey of individual sets of the complete numbered symphonies--and a ton of them there are! Out of the more than two dozen boxes considered, I whittle the choice down to seven extraordinary versions (and as many lousy ones to avoid!)--but there's a lot more choice besides. Get ready: this is a long talk about some really great music.
