He participated in the Venice Biennale with his sculpture "Crucifixion," designed several halls of the Palace of Independence, and, of course, worked on the sculptural compositions "Memorial of Times" and "Gates of Memory" for the Trostenets Memorial Complex. The latter brought him fame in non-artistic circles. Was it easy for a young sculptor to work on a military theme? Why is preserving historical memory important for our country? And what brings happiness to a passionate artist? He has been working toward this for over thirty years; it's his entire life! The son of intelligent parents, he could have become an outstanding scientist, but chose to work with Italian marble and create works of art. Oleg Popelsky's career began with the production of brick fireplaces. Today, the maestro has created over a thousand icons, which have been consecrated according to all canons. A museum in Minsk is also hosting an exhibition of his homages to artists of the Paris School—Soutine, Modigliani, and Chagall. What was his path to artistic prominence?
