Detroit's Finest | Mike "Agent X" Clark
Mike "Agent X" Clark, Detroit's esteemed "Ambassador" in the underground music community, celebrated for his unparalleled understanding and deep appreciation of the industry. Raised on the West side of Detroit amid the electrifying vibes of Jazz, Funk, and Disco, Mike, also known as Agent X, developed a passion for the DJ world at the early age of 13. Throughout the 1980s, fueled by a competitive spirit, he honed his skills by infiltrating local dance clubs, playing at backyard parties, and engaging in turntablist showcases. Joining the Direct Drive DJ Collective, Mike drew inspiration from legends like Ken Collier, Tony Humphries, and Larry Levan, solidifying his role in the birth of Detroit techno. As a producer, Mike formed the Underground Resistance alias and later collaborated with Carl Craig's Planet E label. His EP "In the Morning" propelled him onto the international stage. In the early 2000s, Mike introduced the term "Beatdown" to encapsulate Detroit's urban house sound, emphasizing the city's rich musical roots. The creation of Beatdown Sounds, with a residency at Club OneX, marked a pivotal moment in Detroit's electronic music scene. Mike's label, Strictly Beatdown, furthered his impact, collaborating with artists globally and reinforcing his standing as a key figure in the electronic music landscape. Now back in the UK and Europe, Mike Clark continues to shape the future of music, with promising projects on the horizon for his renowned label, Strictly Beatdown.
