More than three years have passed since then, but by the first half of 2025, the excitement has already worn off here. I will not discuss things like prices rising, the cost of living, bar fines, or the exchange rate. Since you have likely heard this countless times in so many videos, I will skip the details. I will deliver this in true Channel Rico style. I would like to reiterate that this video conveys my life and daily routine in Pattaya, as well as current information and my personal opinions. Based on a cool-headed and objective assessment of Pattaya's current situation, I have selected five key points to consider. Key Point 1: Concentration in Specific Areas Current Pattaya exhibits a cycle quite different from the past. There used to be a joy in exploring different places and discovering new spots! It was a place overflowing with hidden gems and boasted a massive supply of goods. With many shops everywhere and welcoming Thai locals, Pattaya was a place where you could have a great time no matter where you went! This place, which used to be like this, now shows signs of being concentrated in zones and areas preferred by tourists from specific countries. This causes great fatigue for visitors and exacerbates the "hamster wheel" phenomenon, which was already lacking in content. Second point to note: Pattaya has lost its unique atmosphere. Pattaya, where people used to constantly express gratitude even for just 100 baht! Now, however, it seems they take it for granted and do not seem to appreciate it. When observing the behavior in specific areas where tourists flock, it has become truly laughable. Pattaya, once a place of hospitality and hospitality regardless of money, has now suddenly become a place you cannot even dream of visiting without funds. Amidst this atmosphere, a dark undercurrent is spreading day by day, seemingly driving lonely and weary tourists further away. Third point to note: It seems that things that were once easily obtained have disappeared. Affordable prices and enjoyable content wherever you went—the satisfying spaces and times have now suddenly transformed into places that require constant checking and scrutiny. Just as one gets taken advantage of if they are naive about the world, the same seems to be true here. Those without information, first-timers, or those with limited experience could easily access any location because the radius of movement was small. However, the constant warnings of disillusionment lurking everywhere truly amplify fatigue, and the sense of loss and discomfort that arises from facing unfavorable results is an undeniably uncomfortable reality for those who have carved out precious time to come here. Even identical shops located just a meter apart display significant price differences; this is difficult to accept not only on the main roads and bustling districts where tourists flock, but also in the secluded alley commercial areas. It is simply regrettable to see an atmosphere where shops are obsessed solely with raising prices, completely disregarding the quality of service. On top of such massive price hikes, the reality is that even in remote areas with little foot traffic, the food is so unappealing that it leaves one shaking their head in disappointment. Given this situation, I find myself thinking that for travelers short on time, the very act of having to waste time searching for places is a significant risk. Fourth point to note: You only need to know the situation and the atmosphere. This is because there is no easier place than this once you understand the flow of the local situation! If you take your time and look calmly from a step back, the things you see can change the entire travel experience. It will be different going with knowledge than going without it! If you change your perspective and approach to enjoying it, there is no better place than this, but I believe it is a fact that finding a place of this caliber is difficult. You don't even need to look closely; if you just take a step back, things will naturally come your way.
