The mung bean, alternatively known as the green gram, maash, moong, monggo, or munggo, is a plant species in the legume family. The mung bean is mainly cultivated in East, Southeast and South Asia. It is used as an ingredient in both savoury and sweet dishes. The mung beans here in Bosnia is not known. At the same time it's very expensive. So every year I plant some of them although it's not that much but I have this feeling of satisfaction everytime I can harvest a couple of hundred grams out of it. We Filipino love to cook it sautéed or with coconut cream. It's part of our home cooked meals.
