I was a little surprised as there had been a lineup change. I was looking forward to seeing Krimh (Kerim "Krimh" Lechner) who was known on Youtube for his drum covers and subsequent hiring as drummer for Decapitated. However, there is a new drummer as of this year, Paweł Jaroszewicz, who has played for many bands, some of which are Vader, Thy Disease, and Christ Agony. He also sports an "Antigama" tshirt on stage; another band he was in. It was a surprise, mainly because the band photo used on the flyer had Filip Hałucha (Bassist) and Krimh (Drummer) in it. Of the members onstage, only half were featured in the photo. The bassist was new, as was the drummer. That small, niggling fact aside, they played incredibly well as you would expect. The vocals were extremely powerful, and I found fault nowhere in their performance. For a single guitarist, the sound was pretty thick and ballsy, a sound usually only achieved by bands with two guitarists. The sound of the club "Quattro" was the typical wall of muddy decibels, but that is not the bands shortcoming - it is the venues... and every band I have heard there suffers the same mix... still, the band was impressive even with this handicap. Very lucky to have been able to see them.. shame their set was only 45 minutes. I had a quick chat to the vocalist Rafał "Rasta" Piotrowski after the gig, and he was a very friendly guy. Someone had given him a small bottle on Nihon-Shu (aka "Sake") and he was drinking some of it and smiling happily. He basically apologised about being from Poland, because he felt the place wasn't a particularly exciting place, then went on to mention he was very pleased to be in Japan, and that it was their first visit here. Thats the great thing about Japan... band members can just wander around in the foyer and say hello to people without the need for security or personal minders. I managed to get a photo of him, then other people recognised him (he had a hat on) and then it was a wall of polite fans waiting to get the chance to do the same. Thanks Decapitated for a very entertaining gig. Hope to see you again somewhere, sometime. PS: I saw youtube user (and regular commenter on my videos) "themetalgod66683" during the break. He was standing behind me talking to a couple of folks there in a loud brash American accent hahahaha. I was gonna say hello at the time, but I would have quickly lost my favourite filming vantage point as other people would slide in there quickly enough, and he seemed deep in conversation. just thought I'd say hi now instead.
