In this tutorial, I'll show you step-by-step how to improve sound and correct audio recordings in DaVinci Resolve using the advanced tools available in Fairlight. Whether you're dealing with a very quiet recording with noise or a room resonance, you'll learn how to effectively address it. In this episode, you'll learn: • How to work with Fairlight. • How to analyze recording volume levels (Loudness, True Peak) and how to equalize them to standards (e.g., television -23 LUFS). • How to reduce noise using the Noise Reduction effect in DaVinci Resolve. • You'll learn two noise reduction modes: manual (Learn Mode) and automatic (Auto Speech Mode). • You'll learn how to adjust Noise Reduction parameters (Threshold, Attack, Sensitivity, Ratio) to effectively remove noise without damaging the voice. • How to use the Fairlight equalizer (EQ) to shape the sound. • How to remove unwanted frequencies, including low frequencies (below 100 Hz), which can sound bad on cheaper headphones, and high frequencies. • How to locate and reduce standing waves (resonance, reverb), which cause uneven vocal sound. I'll demonstrate this using a rather extreme example of a recording where the sound was very quiet and noisy.
