This year, the "Year of the Horse," auspicious year, Dewa Sanzan Shrine has carried out improvements such as installing signs to further promote the appeal of the "Eight Scenic Views of Mount Haguro." On the 24th, members of the Mount Haguro tourist guide group toured the seven completed locations, listening to explanations from temple and shrine officials. Explanation: "The Golden Hall here is a place of worship with a magnificent view, where visitors can admire the building and offer prayers inside." Hagurosan Haraigawa River: Those who visited Mount Haguro always purified themselves in this river. Explanation: "This slope, also known as Benkei's Oil Spill, is where Benkei, traveling with Yoshitsune, attempted to offer oil but slipped and spilled it." The most extensive renovation this time was the path leading to the four scenic spots. Normally a treacherous path not frequented by tourists, it has been made easier to walk on with the addition of stone steps and paving. "Wow, wow, I didn't realize it went this far in!" At the top of the stone steps is an Inari Shrine, and next to it is a large stone called "Izanagi Stone," from which a cherry tree grows.
