So one afternoon i saw that T42 Was on 64 so i decided to head out and do a visual in the dark on it but as my luck is so bad it subbed off after it got back to New Addington so i just settled for this E400 and i must say the bus wasnt as bad as i thought it would be as the driver was very quick and managed to take this bus to fast speeds. The 64 is a really nice route that i would recommend doing and i would rate it a 9.25/10 History In 1950 route 64 operated between provided daily service between West Croydon station and Addington being operated out of Croydon (TC) garage. On 20 July 1960, route 64 was extended from West Croydon to Wimbledon Stadium to replace trolleybus route 630. By 10 May 1961, the route had been withdrawn between Tooting Broadway and Wimbledon Stadium. On 4 December 1971, the route was converted to one-man operation with the AEC Routemasters replaced by Daimler Fleetlines. On 22 August 1987, the route was extended from Addington to New Addington replacing route 130B, it was then withdrawn between West Croydon and Tooting Broadway and was diverted via London Road to Thornton Heath garage. On 30 August 1997, the route passed to Metrobus operating from their Orpington (MB) garage with East Lancs Pyoneer bodied Volvo Olympians. On 31 August 2002, the route was retained by Metrobus with brand new Scania OmniDekkas introduced. On 5 March 2005, the allocation was transferred to Polhill (PH) garage. On 18 March 2006, the allocation was transferred to Croydon (C) garage. On 29 August 2009, the route was retained by Metrobus using brand new Scania OmniCity DDs. On 28 August 2010, night bus N64 was introduced to replace the withdrawn N159 from New Addington to Thornton Heath. In July 2014, the Go-Ahead Group restructured its bus operations, which included the transfer of Route 64 from Metrobus to Go-Ahead London. #fortheloveofbuses #viral #world On 24 October 2015, the route was revised in New Addington to start from King Henry's Drive Vulcan Way (north arm) via Vulcan Way (return direct), then via current route 130 to New Addington, then via route T31 to Addington Interchange, then as currently to Thornton Heath Garage. At the same time, an The route converted to a 24-hour service to replace route N64 In 2016, existing Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs were introduced alongside existing Scania Omnicity DDs. On 27 August 2016, the route passed to Arriva London operating from their Thornton Heath (TH) garage using existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s. At the same time, the route was re-routed at New Addington to run both directions via Overbury Crescent (south) and Central Parade, instead of Overybury Crescent (north). On 11 March 2023, the daytime frequency reduced from every 7-8 to every 10 minutes reducing the PVR from 21 to 17 buses. On 12 August 2023, a cross-link with route 612 was formed.
