Frank Amato Abused Castellano’s Daughter——Castellano had him chopped into pieces
He beat the boss’s daughter. Seven years later, Castellano sent Roy DeMeo. Frank Amato had everything a man in his world could want. He married into the most powerful crime family in America. Paul Castellano — the boss of the Gambino family and the most feared man in New York — gave him a business, a job, a home, and the protection of an organization the FBI was still trying to fully map. He threw all of it away. He had affairs openly enough that a Gambino capo witnessed it firsthand. He ran two businesses into the ground. He was thrown out of Castellano’s mansion and fired from every position he was given. And then he did something that crossed a line that no amount of time or distance was ever going to erase. He beat his pregnant wife. Hard enough that she lost the child. His wife was Connie Castellano. And her father never forgot. The divorce came in 1973. Amato walked away breathing — and spent the next seven years believing that was the end of it. That Castellano had moved on. That the worst was behind him. He was working at a clothing store in Queens. Doing petty burglaries on the side. Living small and staying quiet. Then on September 20th, 1980, he got a phone call. Roy DeMeo wanted to discuss a business deal. Amato walked through the front door of the Gemini Lounge in Flatlands, Brooklyn thinking about what he was going to get out of the meeting. He never came back out. DeMeo shot him to death. Then his crew did what they always did — the Gemini Method. The body was dismembered, loaded onto a cabin cruiser, taken several miles out into the Atlantic Ocean, and put over the rail. Frank Amato became the ocean floor. He was declared legally dead in 1985. His remains have never been found. Not one person was ever convicted of killing him. Castellano had simply waited until the moment was exactly right. 🔔 Subscribe and hit the bell — new mob history every week.
