After spending a day exploring Santa Fe, I understood why so many people say this place looks like it's from the future. If someone showed me these images without telling me where I was, I'd probably think of Singapore, Dubai, or some city from the year 2040. Glass skyscrapers, world-class corporations, elevated bridges, luxury hotels, and infrastructure that completely shatters the image many people have of Mexico. But the most impressive thing isn't the buildings... it's the history of the land on which they were built. Just a few decades ago, Santa Fe was a vast area of ​​sand and gravel mines. When the extraction ended, gigantic pits remained, which, over time, were used as one of Mexico City's main landfills. For years, thousands of tons of waste arrived here. The place that today represents luxury, economic power, and modernity was once covered in garbage. And yet, the city managed to completely reinvent it. Today, where mountains of waste once stood, some of the most impressive skyscrapers in Latin America rise. Major international companies have established their offices here, and universities, shopping malls, luxury hotels, and exclusive residential developments have sprung up. Walking through Santa Fe is to witness how a place can radically change in just a few decades. But Santa Fe isn't only impressive for its architecture. It also represents a lifestyle that very few can access. Some of the highest-paid businesspeople, executives, investors, and professionals in the country live and work here. For many, this place symbolizes the pinnacle of professional and economic success. And that inevitably makes you reflect. Because in the same city, two completely different worlds coexist. While some struggle every day to get ahead, others enjoy a lifestyle surrounded by luxury, security, and opportunity. This contrast doesn't just define Santa Fe; it also speaks to the enormous diversity and complexity of a city like Mexico City. As a Colombian, I can say that this place completely changed my image of Mexico. I never imagined finding a financial district with this level of development. At times, you truly feel like you're walking through the city of tomorrow. And perhaps that's the greatest lesson of this journey. Santa Fe demonstrates that cities can transform in extraordinary ways. That a former mining site and an old landfill can become one of the most modern and exclusive places in Latin America. Mexico is a country of contrasts. A country where the past and the future coexist just a few kilometers apart... and where simply visiting one city is enough to feel like you've traveled to the year 2040.
