People often compare it to the Jimny, and while I don't think it can handle snowy roads to a certain extent, I think the Taft's appeal lies in its spacious cargo space, comfortable interior, and good fuel economy, which the Jimny lacks. I also think the pure gasoline engine is another attraction that the Hustler, a frequent rival, lacks. It feels like gasoline engines will be on the decline in the future, but perhaps it's precisely because of these times that it's nice to enjoy a pure gasoline engine. The Taft has mixed reviews, but there is a fair amount of engine noise inside the car. But it's also nice to enjoy a traditional engine that you can't get with a motor. The gauges are also quite comprehensive, with an analog needle-type tachometer and speedometer. The engine isn't much of a hot topic, but it's equipped with Daihatsu's new engine, Japan's first multi-spark system, and the naturally aspirated model is equipped with a high-performance engine described as the ultimate port injection system.
