346A. Changing Direction - Stepping Back
Turning a train when it gets to its destination can be remarkably complicated. Today I have a little look at several ways this essential task is accomplished. Let’s have a look. (( This video replaces an earlier version that had bad audio. )) My favorite trains these days certainly include the EMU’s of the 70’s. While some do exist in preservation I don’t think many (if any?) are running. Are there any third rail preserved lines? In the end model railways often have to accommodate several ways of working to include “less than prototypical” operations. Knowing how things ‘should’ be done often helps. Knowing about the “Step Back” process gives a great excuse for running intense Underground services for example. Subscribing to this channel is of course free - as is clicking the ‘like’ button. Both things help the channel grow. If you’d like to help practically with the layout and support all that goes with making these videos you can do so by signing up as a channel member. There are a couple of levels to choose from. There’s a new web site out there too - WWW.DenCross.com That site will grow over time but already has a few pictures and so on. If you prefer you can also help via this Ko-Fi link … https://ko-fi.com/trainsofthought Thank you in advance. Ian
