MIH – PROP KATANA – WOOD – DIY

Alex here, being safe from Covid 19 and I hope you are too. In this video I’ll be showing how easy it is to construct a wooden Katana Replica with cheap material and tools people commonly have. Now in the video I do use a Rotary tool which was to make cutting the PVC plastic, can use a coping saw, and carving the koi-fish which was a last minute decision while waiting for glue to dry (Is a heat gun a common tool?). Katana Handle Wrapping tutorials:    • RED ITO : MAKING NEW TSUKA      • Tsuka-Maki.  Basic ito wrapping tutorial.   Materials Used: Tas Oak (1.2m x 65mm x 12mm), Scrap 3mm MDF, Scrap 3mm Plywood, Scrap 2mm PVC Plastic (Pipe heat formed into a sheet), Wood glue, super glue, hot glue, automotive body filler, gap filler (acrylic putty / plasterboard filler), Spray paint (grey primmer, aluminium, black, gold, satin clear, etc.), acrylic paints (gold, lamp black, grey, raw umber, brown, orange, red, white, cream, etc.) Tools used: Jigsaw, Coping saw, planner, rasps/files, rotary tool (cut off wheel & Carving bits), heat gun, hot glue gun, sandpaper (40-240 grit), Stanley knives/hobby knives, scissors, masking tape, pens, etc. Sorry about long wait, didn’t quite start a new project until late January and this one did take a while. I’ve got a few quick projects lined up next and with this Virus, Australia isn’t in lock down but when it does, I’ll have less distractions to get those finished. So, until the next video, stay safe, clean and subscribe to Make it Happen.
