And today you'll discover what these three things are. 1. SHORT-TERM MENTALITY Short-term mindset is your biggest enemy when you want to have a healthier life. A short-term mindset means you have choices now that affect your future. And health is a long-term phenomenon. So, if you take action now and these actions generate consequences for you in the medium and long term, this is one of the biggest enemies you can have for your health. This includes sugar, white flour... foods that are bad for you. Most people who have unhealthy diets are juxtaposing a long-term mindset with a short-term mindset. You need to abandon this short-term mindset. What you're doing is mortgaging your current health with the decisions you're making now. You're deciding that you want only pleasure and neglecting your health. You often make choices that don't bring long-term benefits. They bring short-term pleasure, and you pay the price for years to come. 2. SOCIAL PRESSURE THAT DOESN'T BENEFIT YOU The second thing you should abandon is social pressure that doesn't benefit you. They're from your family, your friends, your culture. For example: you're Brazilian, so you have to eat meat, but you know it's not good for you. You can continue to give in to social pressure and feel sick when you eat meat, or you can simply stop eating meat. If you feel that alcohol isn't good for you, and you go out with your friends, give in to social pressure, drink, and the next day you have a migraine, you're harming your health. Do you need to abandon your family, your friends, your life to be healthier? No. You just need to keep in mind that if the social norms around you don't help you be healthier, you can let go of those norms. 3. THE IDEA THAT HEALTH IS AN INDIVIDUAL PHENOMENON We treat health as if it were an individual phenomenon. And then we think: I'll make changes to my lifestyle and these changes will make me healthier. But health is not an individual phenomenon. It is a collective phenomenon. True health is public health, because there's no point in being healthy if other people aren't. If you think you can be healthy independently of the rest of the planet, forget it, because in the medium and long term, that's unsustainable. There's no point in taking a plant that will make you healthy but is causing deforestation in the Amazon, for example. If your healthy habits deforest, pollute, and promote wildfires, you'll only be healthy in the short term. Because there's only one planet. If you truly want to be healthier, you have to take care of your health and the health of others too. If you have the privilege of being healthy, having food on your table, being safe, and not being threatened, you become responsible for caring for other people. Privilege comes with responsibility. Health comes with responsibility, because you can't be healthy alone. #ayurveda #health #responsibility #freedom
