👉 Two years after its approval, the 👉 European Union Pact on Migration and Asylum comes into force this 👉 this Friday. Designed to secure the external borders of the 27 member states and expedite return processes, it was accepted after years of negotiation and has caused—and continues to cause—intense disputes among the 👉 member states, as well as raising concerns about whether it will further restrict migrants' rights. Brussels sees it as an 👉 "effective, fair, and firm solution" to the migration challenge and argues that the 👉 EU will now have 👉 "stronger external borders."
