En la madrugada (Juan Rulfo) - Anobium Punctatum

The fog rises slumbering over San Gabriel, welcoming old Esteban and the cows he takes out to pasture each day, concealing a series of events for which blame remains elusive. What are we truly witnessing? "At Dawn" is a story included in the collection "The Burning Plain," a work by the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo. It was his first published work in 1953, although it had previously appeared in the magazine América in 1950. Several of the stories unfold in the town of Comala, located in the state of Colima, Mexico, though their inspiration is the town of San Gabriel, Jalisco, which is also the setting for his novel Pedro Páramo, published two years after The Burning Plain. The landscape is consistently dry and arid, inhabited by solitary, silent, and wretched people—Mexican peasants who survive without hope after the failure of the Mexican Revolution. Some of the stories are historically set during the Mexican Revolution of 1910 and the Cristero War, such as "El llano en llamas" (The Burning Plain) and "La noche que lo dejaron solo" (The Night They Left Him Alone), or in the period immediately following these events, such as "Paso del Norte," which deals with the emigration of Mexican peasants to the United States fleeing poverty, or "Nos han dado la tierra" (They Gave Us the Land), about the consequences of the Agrarian Reform. This work is classified within the genre of magical realism. Another of its important characteristics is the use of colloquial language, and the narration, for the most part, is in the voices of the characters. --|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--| Music: Lord Of The Dawn - Jesse Gallagher From YouTube Music Library -|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--| -|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--| Image video: 100 Photographs of Juan Rulfo --|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--| Narrated by Anobium Punctatum The images shown are not my property and are fully available on Pinterest; all rights belong to their respective owners.
