音楽が「見るもの」になった日|1981年MTV誕生・ラジカセ世代の記憶
On August 1, 1981, MTV began broadcasting. From that day on, music gradually began to shift from something to "listen to" to something to "watch." I was born in 1964 and grew up in Munich. I belong to the generation that, upon hearing that the Stones were appearing on television, would place a boombox next to the living room TV and record only the audio. My twenties were entirely the era of MTV. In other words, I witnessed this change firsthand, right in the middle of the audience. In this video, I'll start with the first jazz record from 1917, and discuss a century of film and music, why rock chose to "not show" things, the birth of MTV in 1981, the Second British Invasion, and the complex story of early MTV and race. I'll also confess my own prejudices from that time, complaining about MTV while eating potato chips at a drummer's house in the suburbs. This video is neither a praise nor a criticism of MTV. I will speak as accurately as possible as a firsthand account of what happened during that era, what changed, and what never returned. 00:00 August 1, 1981: The first song ever played 00:25 I'm part of the "music video generation" 01:30 Back when we used to record TV on boomboxes 02:36 Why start with 1917: A century of film and music 05:51 Rock chose to "not show" 08:02 1981: The day cable and video came together 10:00 Only Britain had video 13:30 My first MTV experience: Potato chips at the drummer's house 15:07 MTV and race: It's not that simple 19:00 The day Bowie questioned it live on air 20:10 So, what has changed? 22:20 Even so, just one last thing Previous video "Rock and Rock 'n' Roll are Different Things" is here → • ロックとロックンロールは別物だ|誕生60周年・1965-66完全史 "The Complete History of 70s Funk" is here → • 70年代ファンク完全史|レコードが爆破された時代、グルーヴはこうして勝った I am currently accepting students for bass lessons (in-person and online) → [email protected] You can see my performance in a short video → • ゆっくり聞こえたら、騙されてます。Day 21|ベース、ゼロから #ベース #ベース... ■Fumi Koyasu (Bassist) Multilingual/Multi-instrumentalist Born in Tokyo, raised in Munich.
