Posada's work is the most important in Mexican graphic art, both for its quality and its universal appeal. This makes the San Marcos neighborhood a special place, having been the birthplace (among its many great offspring) of the greatest national artist. Among his prolific work, the engraving "La Catrina" stands out, a work whose story remains untold, as its social and artistic subject has been lost to Mexican history.
