In today's video, we will talk about education in the Victorian era. What were the school rules, teaching methods, teachers and punishments like at the time. …… Although schools had always existed in some form, it was only in 1870 that children with fewer resources were able to attend them. When Queen Victoria ascended the throne in 1837, schools were only for rich children. Most poor people never went to school and never learned to read or write. Children from wealthy families were usually taught at home by a private teacher until they were 10 years old. Rich boys, from the age of 10, went to boys' boarding schools, while girls continued to be educated at home. As soon as the queen assumed the throne, "Sunday school" was created for poor children. In this case, children who attended morning mass on Sundays stayed at the church for classes until the end of the day. It was only in 1870 that a law was passed that made schools available to children of all social classes. It was mandatory for all children between the ages of 5 and 10 to attend school. It was only after this law that poor children were able to study regularly, as the rich had been doing for decades. Victorian children were required to study until the age of 10 and then, if they wanted, they could drop out of school. Of course, parents and employers forced 10-year-old children to leave school as soon as they reached that age. The reason was simple: poor children needed to work to help support their families, since child labor was not prohibited in the Victorian Era. ================================ ⚠️FOLLOW OUR INSTAGRAM: @diariobiohistory ====================================== #middleage #victorianera #school #historyclass Narration: Instagram @leticiaaparecidaa ==================================== ⭕️ DO NOT CLICK: https://bit.ly/2Il7yLk ⭕️ ⚠️ Access this more complete content directly at the link: https://diariodebiologia.com ⚠️ Subscribe now to our channel: https://bit.ly/2Il7yLk ⚠️ Connect through Instagram of Biologist Karlla Patrícia, responsible for the channel: https://bit.ly/2WXmBCv ============================
