Storm Leonardo has left the Iberian Peninsula with one death, over 11,000 evacuees in Andalusia, and overflowing rivers in this and other regions, including Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Galicia, and Madrid. On Friday, a body was found near the area where a woman fell into the Turvilla River on Wednesday while trying to save her dog in Sayalonga (Málaga). The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, who visited the affected areas in Andalusia by helicopter, appealed for calm: “Complex days are coming because a new front is arriving, another storm, another emergency tomorrow. We are experiencing very adverse, very dangerous, very delicate weather, and that is why I only want to make two appeals: one for calm, and two for prudence.” Of the thousands evacuated in Andalusia, some 3,400 are from the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Cádiz province. Furthermore, the province of Cádiz is also the most affected by road closures, with 50 roads impacted. In total, 152 roads are affected in some way, Montero indicated while updating the situation on the ground, and the Bornos and Arcos dams are being monitored with particular attention. In the municipality of Benaoján (Málaga), with 1,400 inhabitants and located in the Serranía de Ronda mountain range, an order has been given to evacuate some 200 residents from flood-prone areas due to the "risk of the Montejaque dam overflowing." In San Roque (Cádiz), the 341 residents who had been evacuated were authorized to return to their homes on Friday, taking precautionary measures. However, in Grazalema, also in that province and considered the "epicenter" of the storm, the 1,500 residents evacuated on Thursday will not be able to return to their homes for at least six or seven days, according to authorities. Throughout Andalusia, the storm has also caused the closure of more than a hundred roads, and rail service is severely disrupted. Meanwhile, the rising Guadalquivir River continues to cause concern in Córdoba, where the water level has exceeded 5.5 meters, more than double the red alert threshold (2.5 meters). The increased flow has led to the closure of the Roman Bridge. Following Storm Leonardo, the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a warning about the arrival of another major storm, Storm Marta.
