Day 34 UK Squirrels vs Allotment: Round 1 🥒💥 Weeding & Hedge Transformation

🌱 Day 34 on our Manchester allotment and it's been a rollercoaster! After weeks of miserable weather, endless rain and conditions that feel more like autumn than summer, the plot has absolutely exploded with weeds! 😱 While James took on the jungle-like hedge armed with a hedge trimmer, Kasia faced an even bigger challenge inside the greenhouse. What started as a simple tidy-up quickly became overwhelming as weeds seemed to be everywhere after the recent weather. Unfortunately, we're also mourning the loss of THREE cucumber plants... 🥒 💔 The squirrels appear to have declared war on our allotment! In a desperate attempt to save the remaining plants, Kasia secured the surviving cucumbers with cones and gave the same protection to our beans and peas, which are thankfully doing much better. We also spent some time giving back to the allotment community by clearing weeds around the pond area and along part of the pathway leading to it. 🌿 And of course, Kasia continues her important mission of recruiting every ladybird she can find to become permanent residents on our plot and help tackle the pests! 🐞😂 Will the cucumber protection work?
