TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - After undergoing approximately 10 hours of questioning, Febrie Ardiansyah, former Attorney General's Office (AGO) Special Crimes Director, was named a suspect in an alleged money laundering (TPPU) case on Friday evening (July 24, 2026). This case relates to the discovery of 74 kilograms of gold and billions of rupiah worth of foreign currency by investigators from the National Police's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya). After being named a suspect, Febrie Ardiansyah was detained at the KPK's Red and White Building Branch Detention Center in Jakarta just before midnight. However, something was different: Febrie was not wearing a prisoner's vest and was not handcuffed like most suspects. Shortly before entering the detention vehicle at the AGO Building in South Jakarta, Febrie told the media that what he experienced was a form of criminalization. Febrie stated that during his questioning, he discussed with the examining prosecutor that the evidence presented still needed to be further examined. Therefore, his detention is considered unfeasible. According to Febrie, in accordance with the practice at the Attorney General's Office, multiple exposés are required before suspect determination and detention can be made. However, since this is the decision of the Attorney General's Office leadership, he is prepared to face it. When asked about the ownership of the 74 kilograms of gold found in his home, Febrie requested that investigators be questioned. Meanwhile, Ely Kusumastuti, Deputy for Coordination and Supervision at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), stated that it is the authority of the AGO investigators to respond to Febrie's statement. According to Ely, the KPK only assists in the custody of detainees and does not have the authority to handle the case. Nevertheless, Ely believes that the AGO investigators are working professionally in carrying out their duties. Furthermore, Ely believes there will be no attempt to criminalize Febrie as long as the anti-corruption agency coordinates with the National Police and the AGO.
