If you have more speakers than the number of amplifier channels, how can you utilize all your equipment? Connecting multiple speakers to a single amplifier channel would solve the problem. But is it really possible to connect speakers in such a haphazard manner? There are two ways to connect multiple speakers to a single speaker wire: series and parallel. We'll take a closer look at these two methods and explore their characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages, as well as cautions. The video also explains how to calculate series and parallel connections. Although speaker resistance should be expressed as Z (impedance), it's expressed as the more common R (resistance). Impedance is a complex resistance that encompasses both DC and AC resistance, making it suitable for speakers. However, please understand that the video uses the more common R (resistance) symbol. Here are the relevant formulas. - DC Resistance: Rt = R1 + R2 + R3 ... AC Resistance: 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 ... Damping Factor: DF = Speaker Load Resistance / Amplifier Internal Resistance Watt = V x I = V Squared / R V = I x R Watt-related dB formula: dB = 10 Log (measured value / reference value) Volts and SPL-related dB formula: dB = 20 Log (measured value / reference value) Coherent sound in air dB sum formula: dB = 20 Log {10^(A/20)+10^(B/20)...} Non-coherent sound in air dB sum formula: dB = 10 Log {10^(A/10)+10^(B/10)...} Sound varies with distance. For every doubling, the sound decreases by 6 dB. For every doubling of the amplifier's output, the sound increases by 3 dB. For every doubling of the voltage, the sound increases by 6 dB. When two sounds of the same sound level and the same loudness meet without a time difference, a 6 dB increase in sound level occurs. When two sounds of the same loudness but not the same sound level meet, a 3 dB increase in sound level occurs.
