Experiment: What type of Nitrogen produces the DARKEST Green Grass?

We TESTED 2 of the Most Common Nitrogen Sources in fertilizer, side by side to see which one produces the darkest green lawn. The first type of nitrogen we are testing is Ammonium Sulfate. Ammonium sulfate used to be the most widely used nitrogen (N) fertilizers for crop production. Now its less common because of cheaper alternatives like urea. When you apply ammonium sulfate you are not only getting nitrogen but you are also getting sulfur as well so its a 1, 2 punch of nutrients. A major benefit to AMS is that it remains stable in the soil meaning it won’t volatilize into gas (ie your lawn will get its full benefit) unlike other nitrogen sources such as urea that are prone to evaporating in hotter temperatures. The 2nd type of nitrogen we are testing is Urea. The biggest benefit to urea is its CHEAP, as a matter of fact its the cheapest source of nitrogen $ per pound of N. But just because its a cheap fertilizer doesn’t make it the best. Urea is prone to volatilization if applied incorrectly which can lead to a 40% loss of nitrogen during your application.
