Amazing Lila Avocado Harvest! This AVOCADO TREE Grows Where Others Fail

In this video, I share the amazing avocado harvest from my Lila avocado tree growing in ground in North Carolina. This cold hardy avocado tree grows where others fail. Everyone told me I couldn't grow avocados in North Carolina because our winters are too cold. This video proves them wrong: it can be done! Most avocado trees are frost sensitive. The Lila avocado, also known as the Opal avocado, is a pure Mexican avocado variety with strong cold hardiness. Mature Lila avocado trees have survived temperatures as cold as 12°F (-11°C) for very brief periods. Lila/Opal is a natural semi-dwarf avocado, and it is easy to maintain the tree at a height of 7 feet and cover it when temperatures get very cold. This makes growing avocados in Zone 8 not only possible, but pretty easy with basic cold protection in place in winter.
