Although it may not look like it from the outside, the interior of the Royal Basilica of San Francisco el Grande is simply incredible. The lobby completely changes our atmosphere, with its large wooden doors. But when we cross the access to the inner roundabout, then we see that we are not in any building. A circular church, which are not very common within Catholic temples. It has a large, beautifully decorated dome in the center of the room, with a spectacular size and a height to take into account. It also has six chapels distributed on both sides of the courtyard, each with its own personalized theme and great works of art. Even a work by the great Francisco de Goya. The main chapel, located in the presbytery, is another of the great rooms of the basilica. All the details that are on each wall is worth mentioning. The frescoes, the sculptures, the stalls. We are not going to stop looking everywhere with our eyes open, because it is a luxury for the eyes. And then there is the museum, which can be accessed through a door located next to the presbytery. Pictures of great value, stalls, an antechamber and a sacristy. A visit that is paid but that is enjoyed. Every penny paid is exceptionally rewarded. Highly recommended both for tourists and for the locals themselves. By the way, an important detail. Although it may not seem like it, the use of a photo or video camera is not allowed inside, but no one controls that. For that reason it is possible to do what I have done, always with respect and education. In fact, I would have recorded more in the museum and would have gone to the sacristy if the guided tour had not been in the museum at the time. Happy Saturday!
