I might not have done a good enough job in the video to articulate why I wanted to move to Japan so badly; other than that, it was just something I felt I had to do. It takes a lot of privilege to get to this position, and I'm completely aware of that. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my grandparents, who helped me realize this dream; my friends, who supported me from near and far; and the companies that gave me a chance to stay. It's been seven years, and I still feel more or less like that 25-year-old girl who moved to Japan without any real ties, just wanting to stay.
