The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is already a year old, so it's the perfect time for a leisurely review—especially with the launch of the S26 series on the horizon. In this article, we take a look at the S25 Ultra after a year and tell you straight: what still impresses, what has aged surprisingly poorly, and what Samsung should improve in its successor if it doesn't want to lose ground to the competition. We cover several key topics. Firstly, the design: the S25 Ultra is the last bastion of that distinctive, angular silhouette, and it would be a shame to dilute it. Secondly, the screen, which may not win in terms of sheer numbers, but has a unique "soft matte" finish that reduces reflections and makes a real difference in everyday use. Then there's the performance, which, after a year, is still top-notch, but we have one specific concern regarding Android Auto and the phone's performance on the road. We also talk about how Samsung's AI has come down to more sensible ground and why we'd prefer the S26 to hone in on things people actually use instead of adding more "gimmicks." And the cameras: the S25 Ultra is still very versatile, but we have a few ideas on how it could be improved (e.g., more practical focal lengths and a more sensible zoom). Finally, a topic that can't be avoided: battery and charging. After a year, 5000 mAh and 45W seem... average, especially when the competition has left. And that's my biggest gripe with the S25 Ultra—and the biggest question for the S26.
