岩手■黒石寺蘇民祭 「命ぶつかり男が滾る！千年の祭りは我らの誇り～黒石寺蘇民祭～」 （製作著作：TVI テレビ岩手　2024年作品） 奥州市の黒石寺で1000年以上続くとされる奇祭。 自らを薬師如来に護られた蘇民将来の子孫であると名乗ることで、五穀豊穣・無病息災を願ってきた。下帯姿の男たちは極寒の中、「蘇民袋争奪戦」に挑み、袋の縛り口を持つ者は「取り主」として一年の豊作が約束されるという。 病を治す薬師如来に護られる小さな集落での祭りは、コロナ禍で争奪戦を３年連続で中止していた。保存会は「今年こそコロナからの完全復活を」と意気込んだが、住職は「蘇民祭は今回で終わり」と発表。住職は外部からの応援を受けて「蘇民祭」という形を守るのではなく、しきたりを重んじ、檀家と共に薬師信仰を残すことを望んでいる。保存会は蘇民祭を残したいが、住職や檀家の思いを汲み、区切りをつける。 1000年の祭りが終わるとき、男たちの命はぶつかり、冬の夜を熱くする！ （注：TV番組OA当時の紹介文を使用しています） A bizarre festival that is said to have continued for over 1,000 years at Kokusekiji Temple in Oshu City. Participants traditionally identify themselves as descendants of Somin Shorai, who was protected by Yakushi Nyorai (the Medicine Buddha), and pray for bountiful harvests, good catches, and protection from illness. Men, wearing only loincloths, challenge the "Somin-bukuro Scramble" in the bitter cold. The one who manages to secure the tied opening of the bag is designated the "Torinushi" (Holder) and is promised a year of good harvest. This festival, held in a small community protected by the healing Medicine Buddha, had to cancel the scramble for three consecutive years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Preservation Society was determined, "This year, we will achieve a complete revival from Corona!" However, the head priest announced that "This will be the last Somin-sai." The priest wishes to honor the customs and preserve the devotion to Yakushi Nyorai with the temple parishioners, rather than maintaining the form of "Somin-sai" by relying on outside support. Although the Preservation Society wants the Somin-sai to continue, they respect the wishes of the priest and parishioners and will bring it to a close.
