Zein Al-Jundi - "Ajmal Gharam"

Featured on the Putumayo collection "Arabic Beat." Originally released on July 31st, 2012. From the liner notes: Zein Al-Jundi got her start in music as a child star performing on radio and television programs in her native Syria when she was just 5 years old, becoming a household name in the process. By the time she reached high school, however, this “Syrian Shirley Temple” left music behind to pursue a degree in architecture in the United States. Yet the beat still bubbled inside her, and in 1998 she decided to restart her music career. Now based in Austin, Texas, Zein released her first CD in 2004. In addition to her musical projects, Zein has established herself as an accomplished raqs sharki (better known as "belly dance") instructor and choreographer, published songwriter, radio producer/host and lecturer. In addition, she owns a Middle Eastern import business, The Arabic Bazaar. On “Ajmal Gharam” (The Most Beautiful Love), Zein sings, “Whenever I see you, my love, I feel safe / Whenever I look in your eyes, I love you more / You are the spring of my life / The tender breeze / The warm sunshine on a winter day / The flowers of April / Night and day I think of you / Drowned in the sea of the most beautiful love.”
