News conference with Professor Peter Higgs
A news conference featuring Professor Peter Higgs was webcast live on Friday 6 July at 10.30am from the University's historic Old College. Professor Higgs spoke to invited journalists and took questions following Wednesday's announcement by scientists at CERN, which gave the strongest indication yet that the Higgs boson particle exists. Members of University staff who have worked closely with Professor Higgs over the years also took questions and there was an announcement regarding an initiative by the University to further enhance research into theoretical physics.
