3 June, NEW FOAL AGAIN, and checking in on the other foals. #equine #wildhorses #cornwall

Because of their calm temperament, strength and surefootedness, the ponies have been used for many varying purposes, and this has led to the breeding and development of the different types that are seen on the moor today. Generally speaking, ponies are smaller than horses. But size isn't just about height – it also includes the build of the animal. Ponies typically stand 14.2 hands (58 inches) or shorter at the withers (the top of the shoulders). Horses, on the other hand, stand over 14.2 hands high. There are around 1,000 ponies roaming the moor. They're owned by local farmers but live a pretty much free-range life. #england
