Abandoned Track Being Restored! New RR Crossings & Wye Track Restoration, East End Of Line Chase

Putting Track Back Into Use That Was Supposed To Be Removed. 3 Railroad Crossings Completely Rebuilt. Locomotives Will Once Again Be Turned Around On The Wye In Sardinia, Ohio. Train Chase On East End Of Line Includes Mt Zion, Seaman & Peebles, Ohio. Short Line Railroad Cincinnati Eastern Railroad On The Norfolk Southern Peavine Line In Ohio. Train with 3 matching locomotives passing the area where the wye track is coming back to life. A couple years ago there were plans to remove both railroad crossings on the wye. School bus drivers complained about having to make several stops in town for out of service tracks. However, recently the railroad decided to put the tracks back in service to turn locomotives. This video shows some of the track with the brush removed and it shows both crossings with brand new sections of smooth track. We also see the completely rebuilt railroad crossing on the main line. The main crossing added a second track. Notice the new crossings gates. This used to only have flashing lights so this was a huge upgrade. I show the crossing gates in use as the train passes eastbound. This is a train chase from Mount Orab, Ohio all the way to Peebles, Ohio. This includes areas that I rarely film such as Mount Zion, Seaman, Lawshe and Peebles, Ohio. I show the loaded rock cars from overhead while I was on Nixon Avenue in Peebles although they are in the distance. We also see the siding in Peebles where the railroad ties are loaded in gondola cars. In the past they have also used hopper cars and flat cars to load the ties. The train stopped here to cut the cars off so the locomotives could run light to Plum Run. There were a couple cuts of loaded cars in Plum Run that the crew needed to switch before bringing the empties in. I put the wrong date in the video. This video was actually filmed on November 3, 2025. We also take a close look at the rail before and after the train passes. This was the first train of the week. BTW, Purina has not started shipping grain in by rail yet. I keep getting questions about that. An employee there told a friend of mine that grain has been shipped in by truck and the process is being tested. It won't be long until trains start running there. Purina spur is tied into the 4 track yard in Afton, Ohio. The Norfolk Southern "Peavine" line in Ohio was built in stages between 1876 and 1884 as the Cincinnati & Eastern Railway. Originally a narrow-gauge line designed to haul coal, it opened from Batavia Junction to Batavia in 1876, reached Winchester, Ohio by 1877, and finally connected to Portsmouth, Ohio in 1884. Today there are 69 route miles still in service. The line runs from Mile Post 9 at Mariemont, Ohio to Mile Post 78.4 at Jaybird Road near Plum Run, Ohio. An additional 4 and a half miles are out of service and approximately 20 miles on the east end are owned by the state of Ohio and will eventually be removed for a bike trail.
