He was the penultimate King of France before the revolution closed down the party during the reign of his grandson. In his 58 year reign, he took over 20 mistresses and fathered dozens of illegitimate children. He didn’t give his Queen, Marie Leszczyńska of Poland much peace, either. She gave birth to 10 children in just 10 years. But to the King’s disappointment, only 2 of them were sons, neoghter of whom would outlive him to wear the crown. While most monarchs married their daughters off to royals across Europe, Louis was only able to get one of his brood a crown.
