Part 1 - Subversion of human wisdom
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and exhibit as nothingness, the understanding of the experts. 1 Cor 1:19 Did I read that correctly? Is God committed to the destruction of human wisdom? Yes! The cross is the culmination of God's systematic plan to subvert human wisdom and culture. He comes to reverse the very values and principles by which our current world system is held in place. The salvation He brings has enormous scope: to transform the very social order and hierarchies of our day; to reconcile the very principalities and powers that were responsible for his murder. For this purpose He entered into conversation with humanity, to redefine our concepts and transform our understanding from within.
