What 3,000-Year-Old Wool Can Tell Us About the Ancient Past
What can tiny fragments of wool from 3000-year-old graves tell us about the Iron Age? In the Netherlands, archaeologists discovered rare textile fragments in two Iron Age burials that are about 3000 years and 2800 years old. Textile remains this old are extremely rare, especially in Dutch soil where fabrics usually decay quickly. In this video I speak with archaeologist Sasja van der Vaart-Verschoof, a specialist in ancient textiles, about what these fragments reveal about Iron Age clothing. Special thanks to her for sharing her expertise! Inspired by this research, I also wanted to create an Iron Age shirt... which actually turned out to be a Bronze Age shirt :D Free shirt pattern: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pyox... If you make one yourself, let me know how the pattern worked for you!
