In 1966 AVRO TV recorded and broadcast a TV special about the 1966 beat generation under the title ‘Pop Generation’. In a discussion with provos Peter Bronkhorst and Peter J. Muller (also initiator of Dutch popmagazine Hitweek), ‘popgirl’ Gerry van het Hof and singer Wally Tax of Amsterdam beatgroup The Outsiders, they were talking about their generation. The program was directed by Roelof Kiers. This video was recorded especially for this 'Beat Generation' TV program. The Outsiders were a Dutch beat group in the 1960’s. Amsterdam born leadsinger Wally Tax started the band in 1960 at the age of 12. They came to prominence in the Amsterdam area and later also in the rest of the Netherlands and abroad. In 1966 they supported The Rolling Stones at their concert in Den Bosch to much critical acclaim. ‘Thinkin’ About today’ is a Wally Tax/ Ronnie Splinter composition that appeared on their second album ‘Outsiders Songbook’ in 1967.
