Initially, the director wanted Simcoe to have a "little off" or "weird" quality, suggesting a stutter or impediment (0:29-1:05). However, Roukin proposed that given Simcoe's vicious nature, his voice should sound like "the nicest person in the world," almost gentle (1:15-1:36). Roukin didn't practice the voice beforehand, preferring to just "do it" in the read-through (2:59-3:12). He decided to use a higher, more nasally register than his natural voice (3:15-3:29). The first line he delivered in character was "release the captain, please" (3:34-3:43). This instantly created a "creepy" effect, and the entire room reacted with surprise, confirming that the voice worked (3:43-3:59). #TURN #Gettysburg1863 #callofdutymodernwarfare2 and #CallofDutyModernWarfare3
