DAY 1:    • Onboard The Midland Pullman HST - The Roya...   DAY 2:    • Onboard The Midland Pullman - The First HS...   The 3rd and final day of the "Royal Highland Pullman" tour and the longest of all 3 days. Inverness back to London St Pancras, via Aberdeen crossing spectacular Tay & Forth Bridges. A total distance of 651 miles! I arrived at the station with plenty of time as I was hoping to get a shot of the set arriving, however I was informed that we would late starting due to an issue with the fuelling. So instead of departing at 7:50, we actually left at 8:33. However this was just the beginning. Once on the line towards Aberdeen we were held awaiting clearance on the single track section which ended up in us waiting nearly 45 minutes. So we accumulated a lot more of a delay. As a charter train, you are lowest priority meaning all passenger trains get pathed before you, despite being an HST. Once clear of Aberdeen we follow the beautiful coastline down towards Dundee before crossing the Tay & Forth Bridges and passing Edinburgh airport. This was the week of the COP26 summit in Glasgow and we passed Edinburgh airport just after president Biden had landed in Air Force One! Look out for that standing tall amongst the many private jets on the tarmac. Into Edinburgh Waverley for a short stop before carrying on down the ECML and into the sunset. Our pathing being lost we ended up being stuck behind just about anything the signalman could find to put in front of us. So we only managed to just about hit 125mph once and for a very short time between Northallerton & York. After Doncaster, not much to see as we headed through the East Midlands and with the winter nights drawing in & the weather not playing ball I didn't film again until Bedford. We stopped to drop off at Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Corby, Kettering & Wellingborough and I filmed the departures from Bedford, Luton & St Albans before finally arriving at London St Pancras just over an hour later than scheduled at 22:30. 14 hours after departing Inverness. Fantastic crew onboard, we were all well looked after with plenty of tea, coffee, snacks & a Pie! There are 2 Classes of seating onboard the Midland Pullman, First Class De Luxe which is where I was. This includes tea, coffee & snacks and other food available for purchase from the buffet. And then there is the Pullman Dining cars which offer a far more luxurious, 3 course dinner & beverage service. But I wasn't all that fussed for that. I was just wanting to ride on the classic HST with VP185 engines once again.
