13-Year-Old Fatally Struck by Boat During Tubing Accident, Family Says
During 13-year-old Cassidy Murray's family vacation in Aruba, she convinced her dad to join her on a tubing excursion. Her father says Cassidy was eventually ejected off the raft. When the boat's operator circled back to pick her up, her dad says the driver lost control and hit the throttle. That’s when he says the boat slammed into Cassidy. Aruban authorities ruled it an accident. She later succumbed to her injuries back on the beach. In a statement, the government of Aruba told Inside Edition it is deeply saddened by the tragic accident. While Aruba doesn't have any laws requiring spotters, authorities there say they take the safety of their visitors seriously and will continue to assess a wide range of safety protocols on an ongoing basis.
