“Painting with Sound: George Crumb’s Visionary Music” Steven Bruns, University of Colorado Boulder
Steven Bruns from the University of Colorado Boulder gave a lecture on the music of George Crumb as part of a special performance by Margaret Leng Tan in memory of the composer. In addition to exploring Crumb’s long relationship with the Library of Congress, Bruns focuses on Crumb’s last work, Metamorphoses, Book Two, performed as part of the concert. In addition to other topics, Bruns explores the relationships between Crumb’s music and the visual and literary arts with examples from throughout his career.
