Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received Minister of State Construction Mikaïlou Sidibé on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to review the implementation of the performance contract assigned to his department as of June 30, 2026. Following this accountability exercise, the Minister's performance contract's physical execution rate stands at 46% for the first half of 2026. Among the main achievements, Mikaïlou Sidibé cited the completion and commissioning of several urban roads in Ouagadougou, as well as the opening of the Hèrèdougou bridge to traffic. This strategic structure helps to alleviate traffic disruptions on National Route 1. The Minister also noted the complete reconstruction of the Bama bridge, which was damaged during previous rainy seasons. He also mentioned the resumption of work on the Moami-Orodara road. The completion of preliminary work already allows users to travel on this road in better conditions, while awaiting the start of major rehabilitation work. The Minister also announced the launch of rehabilitation projects for National Route 7, on the Bobo-Dioulasso-Banfora section, as well as the Banfora-Orodara road paving project. In the area of ​​land and urban governance, the Minister highlighted the adoption of the new Urban Planning and Construction Code. According to him, this reform introduces major innovations in urban management, improves the business environment, and simplifies building permit issuance procedures, particularly through their digitalization. He also mentioned the reforms undertaken within the National Laboratory for Building and Public Works (LNBTP), aimed at strengthening the sector's capacity and encouraging greater involvement of private stakeholders. In the area of ​​housing, several housing production projects are underway and are expected to continue into the second half of the year. Comrade Mikaïlou Sidibé also reported on the progress of the pilot project for restructuring informal settlements and clearing urban land disputes. This project is currently being implemented in Ouagadougou's 7th district and Bobo-Dioulasso's 5th district, before its gradual expansion to other areas. The Minister acknowledged that many challenges remain, particularly due to the time required to complete major road infrastructure projects. He urged the Minister to strengthen monitoring of construction sites, accelerate the implementation of housing production projects, and pay particular attention to the restructuring of informal settlements.
